The history of the International Conference on Advances in Applied Physics and Mathematics (AAPM) is a story of growing international collaboration and scientific innovation centered in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The first AAPM conference, AAPM-I, was held in Tashkent and established the event as a regional meeting point for specialists from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, and Malaysia. The proceedings from this inaugural conference were published by the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (TIIAME), highlighting the local academic community’s engagement with broader international research in applied physics and mathematics.
Building on this foundation, AAPM-II took place from April 10 to 12, 2023, again in Tashkent. This edition marked a significant expansion in scope and participation, attracting researchers, academics, and industry professionals from multiple countries. Over 220 manuscripts were submitted, covering diverse topics such as energy systems, environmental monitoring, and advanced materials. The conference provided a vital platform for discussing contemporary challenges and sharing innovative solutions, with its proceedings published in the Journal of Physics: Conference Series, Volume 2573, further raising its profile in the international scientific community.
AAPM-III, held on January 20–21, 2024, in Tashkent, represented a further milestone in the conference’s development. Under the guidance of a distinguished scientific committee from Uzbekistan, Serbia, China, and Russia, the event received approximately 250 submissions, of which 70 high-quality papers were selected through a rigorous peer review and originality check process, resulting in a competitive acceptance rate of 28%.
AAPM-III attracted participants from a wide range of Asian countries, including Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Russia, and India, fostering international scientific collaboration and cross-cultural knowledge exchange. The conference’s proceedings were published in EPJ Web of Conferences, Volume 318, ensuring broad dissemination of the research presented and strengthening the conference’s reputation as a leading forum for advances in applied physics and mathematics.
AAPM-IV was held on December 18–19, 2025, at Bukhara State University in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. The conference marked another important stage in the development of the AAPM series, bringing together researchers, university professors, engineers, and young scientists from different countries, with particularly strong participation from Central Asia. The event provided a platform for presenting new scientific results, exchanging ideas, and strengthening international cooperation in applied physics, mathematics, and related scientific fields.
The conference was officially opened by Professor Obidjon Khamidov, Rector of Bukhara State University. The opening ceremony was attended by international and local scientists, university faculty members, researchers, and young scholars. Particular attention was given to strengthening connections between scientific research, innovation, and practical applications. Professor Anvar Zakhidov from the University of Texas at Dallas, USA, addressed the participants and spoke about research activities and scientific developments at Bukhara State University, emphasizing the importance of international academic cooperation.
The scientific program covered a wide range of topics at the intersection of applied physics and modern mathematics. The main research areas included energy systems and smart technologies, environmental physics and mathematical modeling, earth sciences and resource management, computational physics and numerical methods, advanced materials, and electromagnetic and optical physics. The presentations addressed current scientific challenges related to renewable energy, energy efficiency, thermal processes, magnetic and semiconductor materials, environmental monitoring, seismic analysis, and resource optimization.
Particular attention was given to the application of mathematical modeling, machine learning, numerical simulations, and computational algorithms to complex physical and engineering problems.
An important part of AAPM-IV was a startup project competition aimed at supporting young researchers and encouraging the practical application of scientific ideas. During the conference, an award ceremony was held to recognize the winners of the competition. International and local scientists highlighted the importance of innovative thinking, the development of new technologies, and the transformation of research results into practical solutions. The competition complemented the scientific sessions and demonstrated the conference's interest in supporting young scientists and promoting innovation.
AAPM-IV conference proceedings have been accepted for publication by Springer Nature in the Springer Proceedings in Physics series, Volume 363, with publication scheduled for December 2026. Edited by Mirzo Sharipov, Predrag S. Stanimirović, and Anvar Zakhidov, the volume contains 60 selected, peer-reviewed papers covering applied physics and mathematics in energy systems, environmental physics and mathematical modeling, earth sciences and resource management, computational physics and numerical methods, advanced materials, electromagnetic and optical physics, and physical phenomena in materials and mathematical structures.
